A UBuildIt franchise just opened up close to where I live in Montana. Has any one had any experience with any of the other Ubuildit franchises? Thanks

Is this the co. that helps the owner / contractor for a fee? My only experience is of a customer who ended up handling her own contracting on the new home with consultation and referrals by me. She thought the service they offered and the charge would eat up any savings she hoped to realize by becoming the contractor. They give you a material list which any lumber yard will usually do. Window and other finishes are given an allotment, your job to stay within that pricing. I believe they make recommendations on subs, but that seems more a referral biz versus a direct referral according to talent and quality. Her only regrets explained to me was that a couple of the subs she used weren't up to the quality of work or schedule times she had hoped. She had decided in favor of them on price and did not use the couple I had referred for that area. She kept the house within budget (except for some later additions - watch out there) however there were delays in progress. This is one area that owner/ contractors have trouble in as they are not adept at the process. Best of luck.

Just a little rant if I may;
I don't understand how people are allured by these "help" francises into thinking they're going to save money. If something costs $200 to build, the idea that you can get it "done" for $150 while paying them a commision or a fee is pretty ridiculous. There is a compromise SOMEWHERE.
If you want to save the cost of a contractor by contracting the subs yourself, then by all means do it. But, be prepared to do the legwork required to get the quality subs you'll need. These francise services only recomend guys that either kick back or who give them a price break in order to get the work. That's a hidden cost paid by you the customer, that you may be unwilling to pay based on the compromised level of workmanship.
From what I have seen of the ads for a similar operation, Presidential Homes, they usually assume some HO work in the project. At least cleanup, but depending on the person drywall, painting, trim, landscaping, etc.
Also they offer construction finacing which can be hard for a owner/builder to get.
