OK. Here’s the deal. You know those double wall 4″ gas vents, the ones with the snap locks that snap onto and into eachother? The female end has a 1/2 dozen barbs along the rim, and the two pieces easily snap together?
I screwed up, and for the life of me can’t get the darn things loose.
How do you unlock those babies, short of hacksawing/sawzalling them apart?

For the brand I used, Air-Jet, you just twist.

George,
Try strips of sheet metal slid into the connection
over each "barb". You usually need one per barb.
This will disengage the locking mechanism. Then pull.
There is little play with the pipe but it can be done. When you slide the strips in after prying with say a butter knife do youself a favor and tape the strip in place.

George,
I've been there. I've used technics like Cal's and resorted (on Mondays) to the use of the bigger hammer. Note: the latter requires a trip to the home center.

Ps. Try levering it back and forth rather than pulling straight up.
