I haven't done it, but on a friend's two story deck we planned a system using corrugated metal roofing suspended at an angle to drain into a gutter. If we had done it, we'd have included a wy to lower the panels for cleaning.
I've seen stuff advertised in home wishbook magazines -- it's a shallow plastic trough that designed to attach to the sides of the joists.
My FIL is getting a bladder type system installed under his deck. Drains the water, but also stops leaves and assorted nature from accumulating in it. I'll try to get the brand name.
...that's not a mistake, it's rustic
