Hello. Has anyone ever used ” unistrut” for wall framing. If so is there a way to attach drywall to it? Thanks Liam

Never thought of unistrut for framing
but, with all the fasteners, clips and inserts available I suppose you could assemble a "wall" out of it, then fasten hat channel to that frame. Apply the drywall to the hat channel. I would think the ga. of unistrut is too heavy for self tapping drywall screws.............at least in a reasonable time frame.
If all you're wishing is a thin wall frame-there's 1-5/8ths" studs and track.
unistrut framing
I looked into the 1 5/8th" you mentioned, but I will eventually need to hang heavy cabinets on the wall. The hat channel would be a way and I will look into it. I have been exploring the idea of some sort of 2x nailer between the unistrut channels or maybe an infill with plywood the entire channel length. It needs to be strong for some lab equipment. I was told the unistrut company has done some buildings with its own product in europe and even at their headquarters? Do not know for sure, but the stuff is plenty strong. Thanks for the reply and ideas. Liam
