Okay, next dilema- Milwaukee V18 lithium ion, or Makita LXT lithium ion…
Anyone with experience in either platform?

Have Makita's BTD140 Impact, and love it.
Have Milwaukee's V18 retrofit for the older 18v NiCD, can't be more pleased. I really appreciate that fuel gauge too.
I've been trying to figure out which one I'd rather buy should the need come to replace either, and I'm struggling. I haven't used the rest of the LXT stuff enough to know how much I like them, but I've used Milwaukee stuff for years, and they are still going strong. I love the circ saw.
Dunno what to choose- can't afford to ditch my NiMH Makita stuff yet, and like it too much to want to. Just make sure you compare equal amp-hours, as Makita is now selling both 1.5 and 3.0 Ah 18V lithium-ion batteries. Not for the same price, mind you!
I have the Makita LXT stuff and it's by far the best cordless tools I've ever used.
started with the drill / driver and impact when they first came out.
recently added the 401kit ... has the drill / hammerdrill, sawzaw, circular saw and flashlight.
did an experiment and went cordless on a porch job. Demo and rebuild.
the saws slowed a bit thru the PT framing ... but got the job done.
corded tools will always perform better ... I wanted to see is the cordless could actually do full scale / real work work. And they did just fine.
just yesterday I got to use the little hammerdrill.
worked good too. Certainly not a Bulldog ... but got the job done.
Haven't touched the Mil stuff.
used to have all 14.4 DeWalt stuff.
and worked with a bud who had the 18V DeWalt kit.
btw ... I got my 401 kit for $360, I think ... reconditioned off the net.
search around.

Where I am at with this:
Recip saw- Milwaukee's is better
Drill- Pretty much even
Impact- Makita wins
Circ saw-Even
Makita offers alot more options-There is a grinder and a jigsaw among other things...
Another vote for Makita LXT. My makita outperformed my Dewalt 18v hammerdrill. V18 is too heavy and the line up doesnt have that many tools. the trend right now is even smaller. Makita just released a 10.8v Drill.
The problem you will run into is when the weather is cold... then dont expect lithiums to perform.
Interesting thing I am noticing with Makita is they have 2 18 volt hammer drills in the LI lineup- the 452 that has 450 in lbs of torque, while the 451 has 560. They seem to put the weaker one in the combo kits...
They also have the BHR240 Rotary Hammer
