Could someone please explain to me the purpose of the pail connected to the shop vac on page 58 of the Jan. 2000 issue of Fine Homebuilding? Is there something in the pail ????
*The bucket in question is partially filled with water and is designed to capture most of the drywall dust before it clogs the shopvac filter. The hose connected to the sander extends almost to the bottom of the bucket and is always in the water. The hose between the bucket and the vac is attached only to the bucket lid. Once the vacuum is started, the intake air bubbles through the water where the dust is removed. Hope this helps. Good luck.
