Well, the college kids are back in town here in Boulder, and I know it by the bent basketball hoop at the end of my driveway.
The post is on condition except now for the kink. The post is 3.5″ O.D. Does anyone know of an off-the-shelf mending sleeve that can be bolted around this kind of post? The whole thing is in concrete and I hate the thought of hacking this down completely.
Many thanks.

Two pcs of 4" angle might work
But is there concrete in that post up to the point of the kink?
How bad is the rust?
Perhaps even a round tube steel (4"?) split down the middle lengthwise and then ss screw tite banding in several places to join it back together.
Call a steel shop.
And take care of any rust to stop it-any sleeve over the top will collect moisture. Maybe anti rust paint, then the patch and then urethane caulk to seal any gappage.
Best of luck.
No Concrete Inside
The post predates my ownership, but based on tapping the post it's hollow at the point of the kink. It's a non-continous post (i.e. cheap) that slides together. The new kink is at one of the joints.
No doubt, the wall near it is the starting off point.......
or you grow'em big over there.
There are break-away hoops, might help take the weight off.
And be carefull when pulling it upright-doesn't take much to sever the thing-crimp a nail and bend it back / forth-don't take much.
Do Not park near it when undertaking this repair.
You could saw out the bad spot, then stick a pipe of the appropriate size inside the existing pipes. A welding shop/fabricator nearby may have steel tubing in various sizes and have something that would fit, either on the inside or on the outside.
