I will be having a basement floor poured in the next couple of weeks and I don’t want to miss the opportunity to damp proof it properly. The contract specifies 6 mil poly Is this adequate? Is there a better material? I’d rather pay a more now for the right membrane so I don’t have to run a dehumidifier for the next 30 years. For the record, I put two coats of tar sealer on the exterior walls after letting the foundation cure for about 3 weeks.
