I’ve been warned away from using roofing felt as a vapor barrier under hardwood on a radiant heat floor unless I like the smell of asphalt. I’ve also heard that resin paper could also have some smell when heated.

An article in JLC says poly could be used but their installers prefer something like Moistop.
