Based on research and recommendations here and budget, of course, I was planning on Andersen windows and Velux skylights for our new house. Our window dealer is pushing us towards Andersen skylights, but I can’t find much info on them.
What do ya’ll think about the Andersen skylights? Should I insist on the Velux?

Don't insist.... DEMAND!!!!!

WOW!!! What a Ride!
As a matter of principle or product quality?

Quality... Velux has stood the test of time...
Andersen hasn't....

Thanks, everyone!
Newly bolstered with confidence in my original choices, I will go back to the dealer and DEMAND the velux skylights.
(Well, okay, INSIST FIRMLY. Down here, DEMANDING doesn't come off too well, especially in a small town where you have to deal with these folks every day.)

Skylight = Velux! There is no other!
Andersen tried many years ago and bailed out! Nowt hey want back in!?
Stick with Velux...tried and true.....................Iron Helix
My uncle and I put skylites in our homes in 1990. I put in a velux, he put in an andersen. The top of his, has fallen apart, but mine is still close to perfect. It was reassuring to know I can still buy replacement parts for his, though. I have never had a problem with a velux skylite and recommend them highly. Greg in Connecticut.
Andersen is a great company and you will get great value out of the windows.
Velux really knows what they are doing with skylights. They are the pace setter. You get fantastic value from them on skylights.
I wouldn't buy a window from velux and I wouldn't buy a skylight from Andersen. ( they call them roof windows)
In 2000 I took a trip to the Andersen window and door factory. They were just rolling out the new model of their skylight and entertained us with a spiel about all its wonderfull features. There were one or two design details that I pointed out to them that concerned me. I don't remember what they were, but I pointed it out to them and said that it looked like something that would bne likely to leak in 3-4 years or create a continuing need for maintainance. Told them that when they corrected that problem, I might consider switching from velux.
They flinched - According to buck's law, first to flich loses the game. I'm still using Velux.
But what do I know about your personality type. You could be the adventerous sort who likes skydiving, mtn climbing and voting the _____ ticket in this election. Think of the money you could save on renting suspense and mystery movies if you bought andersen skylights. You could get a cheap thrill every day whemn you walk under it, look up and wonder, when???

In my old home (92) Installed 2 andersons, 1 4/0x4/0 fixed & 1 2/0x4/0 vented. I live 100' away in my newer home with 4 velux all 2/0x4x0 fixed. The andersons still holding up fine. The velux does have a better flashing system. I had/have anderson windows in both houses . Always like their windows
Anderson is an ok product, like others said Velux is better!
