I read that article a while back about completely sealing the crawlspace with white vapor barrier in FHB. The house is in the N.W. There appears to be the minimum clearance between vapor barrier and floor joist 18”-20”.
Does this technique only apply to new construction.? Are louvered vents worthless or unnecessary? People often block them off in the winter and forget to remove in warmer weather. What is the right thing to do? Thanks for your opinions

There was just an article in FHB (two issues back?) about 9 myths and one was ventilated crawl space. Lots of people disagreed wit hthe author, but he said just condition it like the rest of ythe house. I'm sure you'll get lots of feedback on this.
Why do you want to vent/not vent the space?

I read that article in FHB and it made me think about the vents in the house. The house has several vents, but most are blocked off with plywood. I'm planning on selling the house soon and I'm wondering if I should just cover them up because the wide base rimboard is pretty beat and the plywood looks shoddy.
