I need some suggestions here- I have a new cathedral ceiling, 2×12’s with 3/4 plywood, covered with cedar shingles (not shakes).
That’s about 1 1/2″ of wood, which is a lot different situation from bare metal or sheathing/asphalt shingles.
I really want to understand why, in a wet climate (PNW), it’s a good idea to introduce damp air between the insulation and the sheathing. It doesn’t seem like a great idea, if I’m trying to keep it dry up there.
I’d really like to explore alternatives to standard soffit/ridge venting.
Any ideas, opinions, suggestions, or ridicule?
