A buddy of mine has added a laundry tub in his basement and tied it to his washer’s drain. When the washer began emptying the water backed up through his laundry tub! I suggested that since he had not vented the new sink that his problem lied there. I guess I was wrong, because he ran a vent line from his new tub to the vent going through his roof and water still backs up through his sink when the washer is discharging.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance

The washer pump is putting out a large volumn of water, it's easier to go up into the sink than down the waste line. It does drain from the sink after the washer stops pumping?
Possibly snake the drains and see some improvement. I am going to guess that the drain from the washer is sealed into the drain, rather than the drain hose just stuck into the open pipe? Got a rag jammed around it so it doesn't force water out onto the floor? Joe H

Removed the sink stopper so that it won't accidentally close and so that lint won't clog the sink strainer. The owner uses a rubber disk to close off the sink drain when needed.
