Vertical joint in stepped foundation
Detailing a horizontal joint where framing/siding meet foundation is fairly straightforward, and mainly the overhang of the bottom edge of the siding keeps rain off the joint. But what are the various ways of sealing the vertical joint where framed wall meets concrete in a stepped foundation?
Certainly there would be sealing strip between the concrete and the vertical wood (would that be called a “vertical sill” – naw, must be something else). But what keeps rain from migrating sideways and wetting the wood, vertical and the horizontal sill?

The last time I did this I blasted a little spray foam in there. Then I ran the siding about 3/4 of an past onto the concrete both vertically and horizontally. The the bricklayer came back and did another parge coat.

I use sill sealer ( closed cell foam that comes in rolls), against the concrete surface, then PT as the stud.
Either run the siding long and tuck "backer rod" ( again closed cell foam , comes in a range of diameters) or make a piece of vertical trim that acts as a end cap for siding and install it so that it covers the juncture between concrete and siding, use sill sealer behind it and prime and paint all sides before installing.
