its been very cold the last couple night. very cold
been sound a sleep then BLAM, woke up whats that? ten second later BLAM all night. sound like its coming overhead. I got a metal roof on plywood. all my eaves are sheetmetal. nothing fancy, nothing loose. Its been windy too.
go outside with flashlight in cold and wind, nothing.
during the day no noise. next night 2 am. BLAM, ten second, BLAM all night long.
Finally after four night I found the problem. In the master bedroom, bathroom. water is dripping from the fart fan into a empty metal trash can that happen to be in the way. The can hid the water and the drips was slow in time. I happen to go in there just as it went BLAM.
ok, water is condesning in the pvc vent pipe. but the vent pipe is insulated. Its just this one, not the other bathroom.
How do I stop this. It could just be the very low temp. mid 20’s

Is there any way to put some slope in the pipe so the moisture runs to the out side. You could put a towel in the trash can to quiet it down temporary.

move the trash can.
Put a trap in the PVC pipe.

Leave the fan running longer to evacuate the moisture from the line.

Just like Matt said. Put a trap in the line, and run a smaller line pitched to the outside from the trap.
The trap may work if the problem is not too severe. I have poured out a quart or two of water out of a sagging flex hose. I you have too much moisture and cold, you will slowly fill up the trap, effectively shutting of the fan.
I understand that. But put a line to drain the trap at the lowest level so the water doesn't stay.
Wow, either you are a light sleeper or that garbage can has some seriously strong acoustical properties! haha.
Seriously though, if it is possible to insulate the ductwork that is the best bet - but you probably already ruled that option out for one reason or another.

check for air moving through this fan.
They have a dampener which is designed to stop back drafts. But if it fixed open then it might be allowing air to continously flow out that vent.
The other thing is that you are not running the fan enough to clear the moist air and dry out the duct.

I'd not put a P trap in line ...
that'd make for a pool of still water growing all sorta weird stuff.
plus ... with all the bugs in that part of the world ... might start a malaria farm in the attic.
I like the idea of running the fan longer ... maybe try one of the time delay shut off switches ...
but my first step would be to change the pitch so it drains to the exterior.
