Allright allright, get your minds out of the gutter!
Did 70 feet of curb and am going to use cold patch to make connection of curb to road. Thinking of renting a tamper, but seeing as the concrete is going to be 1 1/2 days old, I wonder if the vibration will harm it in any way.
Please keep your answers witty, at the very least.

Sorry, nothing witty; but why cold patch? Isn't it getting warm enough to do it properly?
You're concern is good though... I think all that pounding would bother green concrete.
Scott.
Always remember those first immortal words that Adam said to Eve, “You’d better stand back, I don’t know how big this thing’s going to get.”
maybe I'll just do the fill dirt, compacted by hand, and re-think the cold patch for a few days, give the concrete more time.
What was the mix strength of the concrete? That is the real key to your getting a correct answer if you are trying to push things time wise. If it was what we call "High Early" then no problem as it achieves 6000 psi. in 24 hrs. If you can tamp without actually running onto the new concrete curb I personally don't think you will have a problem. Just my own opinion.

Concrete is 4500 PSI, Class B
maybe I'll just do the fill dirt, ...
Dirt?
Maybe fill dirt to within 8' of grade, well compacted, and then crushed stone, followed by the cold patch. I never tried cold patch over dirt. It is poor enough over stone or old asphalt. I think it would just pop right out over dirt.
If a local batch plant is operating in your area try them for some hot asphalt. I've purchase small pickup truck size loads from a local plant. Just throw an old blue tarp in the bed and have them load on top of it. Fold the tarp over the load and haul asph to the job site. Shovel and tamp like mad till your done.
I have gone as far as 30 miles from the plant on a mildly cool day and still had better results than I ever got with cold patch
filled it with the same stuff that I took out, which was under the road. A combination of reddish brown dirt and stone. But I too was thinking hows the asphalt going to stick to it, so I plan on digging it out and putting in crushed gravel.
its fine, the concrete not liquid, wont hurt it
Concrete takes 28 days to reach strength, better wait until then, gas powered tampers have been known to push in foundations, concrete is green for at least a week
don't rush it!
28 days Maybe , but I have poured "High Early" and driven fully loaded 10 yd. concrete trucks over it the next morning. Depends on the mix design.

can't wait very long, insurance co wants to cancel my homeowners unless I get a CO, even a temporary one. Probably will not be back down until Tuesday, it'll be a week old at that point.
