I recently installed 4 new replacement windows in my house. Everything was fine except for the fact that 2 seemed to have a bow in the bottom of the frame, by the sill. Meaning: when I slide the lower sash down it touches the middle of the bottom of the frame first. It still seals up and all but I don’t like how it looks and I’m not sure how to remedy it. The bow is 3/8 of an inch tops but I’d just like to see an even reveal at the bottom between the frame and sash handle.
Thanks for any help

Were these like this before you installed them?
Was the sill you set them to straight and level?
Did you have to force anything to get them in?
What was the temperature of the material when you installed them?

I'm really not sure of they were like this before install. That's probably the answer there. But they had a good 1/8 - 3/16 of clearance on either side. So I didn't force them in (but that would have made sense concerning the bow). I believe they were stored in a warehouse and it was about 40 degress when I got them and closer to 50 during the install. The widnow sill was flat but a a little out of level, about an 1/8th.
I guess my main goal was to see if I could have caused the bow in any way and how to fix it. I may try the screw through the frame technique mentioned earlier.
Thanks all
Most vinyl windows have a weep system so water has a way to exit the frame. If you are going to put a screw through the bottom you would want to make sure you are not going to interfere with that weep system. Is it possible to get a cross section of the frame? If you can, you can tell where it would be safe to put a screw in. If not, put your screw as close to the inside of the frame as you can, that should keep you out of the windows weep system.
i have installed hundreds of windows in my area(northeast) and i encounter this alot with lower end vinyls....i have taked to drilling a hole and putting a wood screw through the vinyl into the sill....then getting a white vinyl cap and siliconing it in...just put it where u wont see it with the sash down.
If they still lock with a 3/8" bow I'd be very concerned how tight the seal is.
On units without the bow, when locked, can you slide them up and down 3/8"?
Wow ... 3/8" sounds like a LOT to me!! Talk w/ the window rep? Maybe he has some words of wisdom. Better yet, talk to the manuf. first. ... They should be under warranty, yes?
