Well I’m getting ready to put up the soffit and Moma likes the look of the vinyl stuff that is on her dads house. Can you guys fill me in on the pros and cons of vinyl soffit material? I would rather put up some beadboard or something to that effect but that’s what she wants. I’m really limited down here in Texas on what I can use.,I have 3 choices,Hardie, vinyl, wood, when I ask for Azek or Koma they look at me funny.
Thanks

Pro:
- Relatively cheap.
- Never needs painting.
- Fast & easy to install.
- Some styles vent nicely for ridge vent applications.
Con:
- Looks like vinyl. Some look pretty good, but you need to really shop to find it.
- If not installed properly, it will blow out of the tracks.

It's all in the installation, really. Can look nice or look like carp, depending on the install job (and, to a lesser degree, the quality of the material).
There is a vinyl product that looks just like beadboard..best of both worlds....I cant think of the name of the manufacturer though, try googling vinyl beadboard
Other than that, I dont care for vinyl soffit as I have seen it eventually sag if the soffit is more than 16" or so wide.
Up here, aluminum is most often used, doesn't sag like vinyl does, that should be available there, but you don't mention that option
Thanks Guys. I'll see what I can come up with.
