I have a void under the driveway of my home (new construction, eight months old). The settling is where a water line runs. The settling is about 4 to 5 inches deep, about 18 inch across and extends at least 10 feet under the driveway. So far, the slab has not cracked. The settling area extends across the entire yard. Since the house is less than a year old, I will call to builder to correct the problem, but I am wondering what are the typical fixes for this type of problem? Also, is it likely that the settling will continue, and any fix be only temporary, with another void occuring? Or does most settling occur withing the first year?
