Got a call today from someone who told me I was highly recommended to “vulcanize” his leaking box gutters. Now, my ears do stick out from my head, but they are not the least bit pointy. The last time I tried to do the Vulcan neck pinch, I got the crap beat out of me. Apparently, a good kick to the crotch is more effective in a bar fight on this planet. I also tried to “mind meld” once. I don’t really want to talk about that now. Anyway, I told him “Sorry, I’m in the sheet metal business. Vulcanizing is not in my bag of tricks.” He replied, “I’m gonna get four vulcanizing bids. You might as well put one in.” I replied, “I’ll be right over.”
I invented the transporter.

You know the halloween costume rental shops may have some pointy ears that you can rent. That is probably all that you need to land this job, or at least a hand-full of candy for your trouble.
When the job is all done some body can drive the gutters away...
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming
WOW!!! What a Ride!
Vulcanize... isn't that something done to rubber?
Or, maybe he wants you to solder some ears on the gutters he has.
Whoaaa, can you make our ship go?
Maybe "vulcanizing" to them means "can you make our gutters stop leaking and rotting"? Maybe we should send them to the dude who EPDM's the buit-in gutters. Who wants 100 year copper anyway? Most people only stay in a house 5-7 years. Saaaaay, maybe if I duct taped some glad bags together it would last that long... ;)

Yeah - he wanted someone to put rubber in them, which I don't do. He's waited about 10 years to long to make them stop leaking and rotting. He told me there was a "little" carpentry necessary, which more than likely means there's little if any structure left. Often, about four feet out of every ten is rotted out.
I invented rubber.
Ahhh.... we're talking wooden gutters? I saw an article about lining them with copper, and who better to do that than you?
Do you have a wood of preference when repairing the box (asuming it will eventually get covered in paint anyway)?
