I want to use 1×4 beaded flooring on some basement walls. How high should I make the wainscoating?
I would like it to be 32″ high with sheet rock on top would this work?
If anyone has any suggestions or details about trimming out along the top and where the wainscoating meets with door trim etc please post the info. ( I have 2×4 insulated stud walls inside the poured walls, about eighty feet)

First off you're going to have to screw some "horizontal" furring strips to nail the wainscotting up.
Depends how far you want it to stick out beyond the sheetrock above it.
In the past I've ripped some 1/2" plwood into strips and other times I've just used 1x4 furring strips.
Far as the mouldings go use "wainscott cap moulding" unless you want to use some 1x ontop and butt some other kinda moulding to it and over the WS.
By the door mouldings I've, in the past when necessary, mitered the butting piece and mitered a return of the WS.
Be well

Often times a built out casing looks good, with the paneling and trim dieing into the side. Probably should take a look at something wider than 2-1/4" casing too. 32" finish ht is getting on the small side. You might raise up the paneling, use taller base and extend the top cap area. I'm sure there's an application of some formula, golden mean or some such, but the final story is what's pleasing to the eye in this situation. High narrow bsmt windows, drop ceiling, floor covering all play a role in the finish look.
