Must be a good sign that I’m finally reaching the roof. π
After searching the archives I came up empty. House is “flat” roof — will have 10′ x 16′ area of modified bitumen 1/4″ in 12 slope, and then a 16′ x 16′ area downslope of that with 1/8″ in 12 slope to be walkable roof deck. Interior living space under this roof.
I am having a lot of trouble finding a walkable roof deck material. I see it at beach areas all the time and it looks like a fiberglass product, but I can’t find a brand or supplier.
Any and all recommendations and insights greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Don't know if this would answer your question, but we have a fiberglass roof deck on our beach house. It seems to be the standard material used on all exposed decks at the jersey shore, and there is living space beneath.
Exactly. That's the stuff. Any idea who manufacturers it?
Thanks.

I've speced out a number of walkable decks over living spaces with a product called Dex-O-Tex Promenade Roof Deck Surfacing. It's a fluid applied elastomeric surface system which forms its own membrane and integral flashing. I've used it over a plywood deck. Here in the midwest, it has worked well with temperature fluctuations. Also, it comes in various colors and is slip resistant. But you have to have it applied by a certified contractor, otherwise, it's not warrantied. They have different products for different situations. Check out http://www.dexotex.com.
BINGO! Thank you.
Looks like they have an East Coast HQ not too far from me (NJ) and I plan to get certified. My insurance already covers roofing (as long as no torch -- which I hate torches anyway and would never use -- too many friends with too many "near miss" smoldering ember falls into rafter bay or stud bay horror stories; anyway, I digress) so I hope to be good to go.
Thank you again.
