Been lookin’ for a used table saw (something decent, not a Crapsman residential thing). There’s an add in local classifieds for a Walker-Turner “Commercial” 10″ tale saw. Sounds like an old monster, cast iron table, 1.5-2HP, 110V.
I’ve never heard of Walker-Turner before, but the guy says it’s a common comercial brand, and parts should be easily available. Supposedly runs fine as is. asking $250.
Is this worth a 30minute drive to take a look at? Anyone out there used WT equipment before?
Thanks,
Stray

Haven't used one, but yes it is a real tool & definitely worth a drive at that price. Joe H
Anybody selling something like that might have a shop full of interesting "don't use it anymores".
*This guy is selling it as part of an estate. I get the idea he's a relative of the deceased. Might take a drive out there tonight if I have time.
*This is from Delta's web site:1956: Rockwell purchased the Walker-Turner Division of the Kearney and Trecker Corporation in Plainfield, New Jersey. Delta's 20" Drill Press and Ram-Type Radial Drill Press were developed by Walker-Turner.You could ask Delta if parts are readily available. I would inspect it closely, he is either making some big assumptions (common commercial brand?), or....Dave
*Yes, go look at it. I wish I had the opportunity...
*Put a 2 or 3 hp 220 volt motor on it and you'll have a good saw (if it is in good shape to start with).that small 110 volt motor isn't much power for a commercial saw.James DuHamel
*So what'd it look like? Didja buy it? Damn, I haven't bought a new saw in so long.......Joe H
*Well all, haven't been able to pull free an evening to take a look. the guy hasn't sold it yet, so I'm going to try to take a look in the next couple days, and will report back.I've been trying to find out from Delta and others if replacement parts for such a thing would be avbailable. No word yet. It wouldn't necessarily keep my from buying the thing, but it's something to consider.-Stray
*Ditto James' comments about the motor ........puny. A shop I worked at some years back had one along with two Unisaws .......... The Walker Turner was much smoother ....a great saw. At that price it may be well worth to at least look at it.
*Well, It sold before I could get there....Next time I'll know to take a look at W/T. Thanks anyway all for your opinions. -"Too-Slow" Stray
