As part of a new home, I’m building a three-story tower with battered walls and we’re unsure about the necessity of venting the furred-out wall. The structural walls of the tower are 2 x 6 with batt insulation on the inside, 1/2″ OSB and Tyvek on the outside To create the batter, we’re using ripped 2 x 6s, furred-out with 2 x blocking – about 5 1/4″ at the bottom of the wall, tapering to 1 1/2″ at the top. The design doesn’t call for any venting of this cavity. Do I need one? If I do, what’s my best option?

Ventilation would be a good idea. Ventilation occurs when venting is provided at the top and the bottom.
Just to be clear here, you don't want venting in the insulation cavities of the structural wall.
With e batter furring, you are creating a drainage plain, so it needs to be open at the bottom anyway, so all you need to do is design a way to lket air vent out at top, say with a frieze standout, and then you have full venting. That will help longevity of the sidnig material, and likely help with heating and cooling loads.
use some sort of screening to keep bugs and other vermin out
