All, I’d asked a stone question the other day. As a reminder I have a guy putting cultured stone on the walkout concrete portion of our new home. I checked it out today (he wasn’t there) and noticed that he’s blowing some little “craters” in the wall where he’s putting the nails (?) into the wall. In some cases you can tell that he blew a spot in the wall and then moved the nail over an inch or so and then drove it in again. I haven’t seen him do this, but I can see the scars all over the wall. I tried to include a picture below. I’d say the craters are about 2″ wide and 1/2″ deep. My builder, while not happy about it, said the walls are 10″ thick and it won’t hurt anything because a) it’s above grade, b) the walls are 10″ thick and c) the wall will soon be covered with mud and cultured stone so it will be pretty tough for any moisture to get through the wall – which was my concern. My builder hasn’t yet seen him at work either but he’s guessing that he’s using some el-cheapo concrete nail gun to “try” and shoot the nails into the wall.
Should I be concerned with this???

Not a thing to worry about. If anything those craters provide rough spots that will increase the mechanical adhesion of the mortar holdeing the skin on.
