I am attempting to insulate what was previously a carport. The Slab is 6″ thick and stable. I am pouring a 9″ sill wall around the perimeter to keep water out and headroom is an issue. I was advised to lay 2″ extruded polystyrene (pink) on the slab then fasten 2×4 sleepers on top of this bolted through to the slab, then sub floor over that. Will the polystyrene ever compact? Should I insulate between the sleepers as well? Do I need to insulate the exposed 5″ of concrete perimeter above the floor? I am in a cold winter climate in southern BC, no permafrost.
Thanks for your opinions.
