I live in a booming market in Minnesota. Last January I started working with a client on a room addition. I met with the lady for 4 hours and drew a plan and mailed it to her. We met again and she told me the changes. I drew another plan and met with her again for 3 more hours. We took what we liked and disliked from both plans and made a new plan. She called about a week later and said she rethought the whole plan and were going to put the addition on another wall. I met again drew another plan and sent her 6 copies and a proposal. Along with the proposal I billed $200 for my time and put a due by date. Nearly three weeks passed and I received no response from the lady and took another job for may the day before Easter. The day after Easter I received a call and they said they would go ahead and do the work. I called them back and said they would now have to wait for Sept. for me to do the job. The husband said I should have called them.
I feel they could have at least called me and let me know they were considering the proposal. Also if they didn’t think my 23 -25 hours of meetings, drawings and estimates weren’t worth $200 Will they feel the same about my work and neglect to pay me for that. I don’t like to call and press people for a decision.
Should I have called?
