I need to hook up my washing machine. The basement where the machine will be does not have a sump pump and the drain line runs along the ceiling of the basement where I need to tie into. I’m thinking of useing a laundry sink or even a large plastic barrel and putting a sump pump inside to pump the water up into the drain pipe. Any other/better ideas?

The washing machine pump may have enough power to raise the water up to your existing drain line. Check the manual for the height restriction.
