I’m a newby at this so I hope I am posting to the right place.
We found that our refrigerator has been leaking from the ice maker water connection. My insurance (unbelievably) has given me some money to replace the floor but the adjuster didn’t mention anything about the wall. I noticed mold at the bottom on the other side of the wall in the adjacent room.
My question is, should I rip off the dry wall (sorry, no pun intended there) and see how bad it is inside the wall or will it dry out?
Thanks,
steve

You should call him up and mention this damage. He will be easier to persuade if the wallboard is punky, but depending on how long the leaking, you might convince him that there is possible damage to the framing, hence the need to open it up. If he approves it, you will be covered. You may be ok as more than likely, there will be no lasting damage if the leak was not long term. What'd it do to the floor, blow it up like a poisonous toad? Or do you have any rot to sheeting or framing?
*Right now we have vinyl. Where the frig was it started to come up so he figured a complete floor since we won't be able to match it. It's on a slab so the subfloor is not a problem. steve
