What is the best compromise (quality/easy-diy/cost/durability) for a waterproof floor on an (non-covered)overhanging second-floor balcony/deck (5’x18′) that is not over living space. I am attracted to the idea of using Timbertek composite t&g decking, but caulking the groove and plugging up the weep holes. This would be over pt framing, and with a slight slope to encourage drainage. It seems simple and minor leak is not critical. Why doesn’t (or do they?)someone make a t&g composite product specifically for this purpose or as a replacement for all those rotting porch floors? Any thoughts or alternatives? What is most commonly done for waterproof (non-critical) balcony floors?
