EPDM rubber sheeting is made for flat roofs. It's like car inner tube material, can be fastened down several ways, but usually glued. Then you protect it with a deck over the top or glue outdoor carpeting over it to protect it. There have been several discussions on it here, so you can use the search button to look up "EPDM" and "Rubber Roofing". You can also check the FHB magazine index and another magazine, The Journal of Light Construction, which has printed articles on the installation. A picture is worth a thousand...
*b WBA At Your ServiceAbsolutely ! Check out your current issue FHB #137, March 2001, page 104. Is that enough, or do you need more ?
*I thought the article was a little to much, most jobs would be fine with just two layers of modified Torch down without the kettle. Where does the average Joe get a hold of one? Not to mention he had enough layers going up the wall to make a good 1" of packing out the wall for siding necessary. If you can afford the extra bucks the EPDM roof is the way to go if your set on a wood deck. You have to put some strips under the contact points to avoid damage. If you want a great roof that can double as a deck look into Polar Systems a great fiber glass product, 3m also has one. Good Luck
*Check http://www.duradek.com You will have to find a dealer to install it for you but it works great.
