I am building a poured concrete basement on a slightly sloping hill. Part of the downhill side will be exposed and there will be a walkout at ground level. I am building it on a layer of washed stone and installing a perimeter tile system with a gravity outlet. I will backfill with coarse sand and cap with a thin layer of existing clay type soil. My question is: What are the best products/methods to waterproof the outside of the walls themselves. I’m not particularly concerned about cost, I want something that works and keeps the walls DRY. Your suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Investigate http://www.tuff-n-dri.com. I used this system (tho self applied) 11 years ago on my home on a hillside with a walkout . Block foundation in clay soil. Perf. drain at base of footer,covered with a tent of landscape fabric and backfilled with stone.
Works like a charm with no gutters in the woods. Do it right, now, it's alot harder later. Best of luck.

*i used a product called insuldrain made by owens corning on my own home 6 years ago and no water at all. in addition, it is also an insulating board. you can check it out on their website.
