Hi,
We’re in the process of completing a new house and have poured concrete floors with radiant heating.
We’ve heard that one option for finishing the floors is to use wax. In doing some research on this option a design firm we came into contact with in Texas has recommended using High Traffic Paste Wax (a Johnson Diversey product). They’ve used it for a couple of residential projects of theirs and have found it to be easy to apply to the concrete (not as sloppy as liquid sealers/hardeners) and easy to maintain by the user. Evidently the recommended product has been around for years and was originally intended for wood and cork floors.
We’ve contacted Johnson Diversey and although they can’t see a problem using their product on concrete (other than that once it’s on it can’t be easily removed), they’re not aware of anyone using it on that type of surface.
In addition to the above someone else has suggested bees wax but can’t confirm whether it has been used.
As part of our research we’d like to find out if anyone else has used either the High Traffic Wax (or any other wax product) on concrete floors, and what the pros and cons are. As well, if anyone can point us in the direction of a source that can offer more information that would be great.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks!
