I have a question regarding weep holes in a house with a brick veneer. My house is a 1975 home and there are no weep holes in the brick veneer. My question is should I drill through the mortar to make some? If so, how many weep holes should I have, etc.
Thanks, David

Where do you live? How much rain do you get there? Do you often get rain with high winds? How wide are your roof overhangs? Any sign of water damage in your mud sills or ribbon joists? Is there any evidence that the brick ledge was flashed before brick was laid?
My house is 43 years old. No weep holes, but there is flashing under the bricks. Wind driven rain is rare, except for brief summer thunderstorms. No apparent water damage to framing. So I just don't worry about it.
There's a lot more involved than holes: like flashing.
First thing to do is check the sill plate and rim joist and see if there's any signs of water penetration. from water getting behind the brick

Check close to see if you might have weep ropes. Cotton clothes line type rope that is cut flush to the mortar after brick work is done.
