I live in Abilene, TX. where it gets pretty hot in the summer. One bedroom in my house has a vaulted ceiling, 1 wall ht. is 7ft. and the other side rises to 9’9″. The ceiling is 2×6 framing, totally filled with fiberglass batts(R-19), I think, and no air space above the insulation. 3/4 ply, 30lb. felt and a metal roof is screwed onto the rafters. What are good ways to help make this room(roof) cooler. Should I rip off the decking, add deeper framing, more insulation and venting or could I just spray polyurethane in the 2×6 framing area? There is access to the rafter bays from inside the attic. No one currently sprays in my town and I think the closest sprayer is 150 miles east of me. All advice welcome. Thanks very much.
