It's what kind of wood?
If doug Fir, expect it to bleed forever if there are any pitch pockets in it.
Is it green? or seven years air cured?
Excellence is its own reward!
I think it was FHB Mag a few years ago in the Q and A Dept.: Some guy had bought a "handcrafted" timberframe home and the exposed-to-the-living room roof beam was some huge thing like 12"X16" X 24'....an old bridge timber...heavily creosoted!
The question was something like "how can I stop the black goo from dripping on my carpet?"
(Of course the response by the FHB staff was GET THAT SUCKER OUT OF THERE NOW BEFORE ALL THE DIOXINS AND PENTACHLOPHENAL KILL YOU, YOUR FAMILY AND YOUR PETS or words to that effect).
Ah dont worry about it use it and then if the sap bleeds then you can hang your Xmas stockings on it w/o nails :>)
