Hi everyone, long time listener first time caller.
Quite a few years ago, before my time it seams, there was a trend to stucco over Victorian brick houses, for whatever reason, and draw lines in the stucco to resemble pointing as if it were a house built of massive cement blocks. Then as years passed someone decided it would be good to paint the drab grey cementitious stucco.
Now we have the House of Flaking Paint, or the ‘haunted house’ as all of my daughters friends call it. Last weak I set out using a pressure washer to peel the paint off, which worked very well. I’m doing the same to the eaves which are painted tongue and groove hemlock 2 by 8 with these “thingamajigs” that are very fancy, ornamental, structural looking, but clearly not. I’m not sure, but I think someone referred to them as false truss ends. I’ve heard people call them all kinds of things but nothing sounds correct.
What are they called?
Wish I had a pic to post but it seems aforementioned daughter may have rendered our digital camera inoperable.

maybe he's a waterproofing specialist.
lol, may - be
Or will be.
Hey Mooney, I'm one of those framin' , hangin' , tapin' , and a sometimes paintin' guys. One of the best darn tapers around if I may be so bold.
Most tapers I know have HUGE egos though, even for construction.
How about a pic of the house??? Sounds cool....

Ever see a corbel like this?
Ouch! That made my teeth hurt!
Got to admit that's something.
Did you take the pic?
We can imagine something that only exists in our heads, in a form that has no measureable, tangible reality, and make it actually occur in the real world. Where there was nothing, now there is something.Forrest - makin' magic every day
Yup.That is an interesting house. Many of the details are understated when viewed from a distance. Get closer and more suprises are revealed. Kinda cool.
Must be M. C. Escher's house.
Looks like corbel on the cob<G> I need a dump truck, baby, to unload my head
That's so busy it made me get dizzzy!

Funny, now I know what they're called I've taken a new interest in them and notice them all over the place. We live a Victorian town with lots of corbels.
I know, I'll start a new thread...........
Those people back then didn't have anything better to do in the winter so set around makeing them & cutting round bottoms on shakes.
you know darn well they are called core bells. Quit trying to confuse me just cause I'm so old and all...
