Peter Gedrys wrote an article entitled “Use dyes to tranform poplar into cherry“. The article appeared in the Master Carpenter section of FHB. Has anyone tried this technique?
Peter mentions two Lockwood water dyes – golden amber maple and antique cherry. I went to the WD Lockwood site and they list “Early American Maple Golden Amber” and “Cherry, Natural Antique”. Is golden amber maple the same color as Early American Maple Golden Amber; is antiques cherry the same color as Cherry, Natural Antique?

Why don't you contact the author to ask?
Nihil
My point was two fold: 1) I wan't to know if anyone had tried the method; 2) the colors. I actually do not know how to contact the author.
Thanks for the constructive reply. Incidentally I am relatively well fed.
