What do you call them?

nkhandyman | Posted in General Discussion on September 8, 2005 02:13am

I am looking for the proper name of the alum right anglesmaterial that are placed on a roof to divert water from over a doorway. They fit into the water slots on the shingles and are placed at an angle. Where are they normally sold?

Thanks

    water diverter or rain diverter...

Around here Lowes sells them as does ABC roofing supply and the building supply I  use.  Comes in 10' lengths. Actually it's shaped more like a 'J'.

Always called 'em yankee gutters, cause, I'm guessing yankees are too cheap to put in real gutters<G>

Never seen them in aluminum, only galvanized, and at any place that sells materials, including Lowes and HD

    "what's in a name?" d'oh!

    1. maverick | Sep 08, 2005 04:59am | #3

If you knew anything at all about yankee gutters you would know they are not cheap to build

A yankee gutter is a trough built into the roof deck just behind the fascia. Try that in hooterville!

      1. Snort | Sep 08, 2005 02:11pm | #4

Sheesh, at least we try to have a sense of humor in Hooterville... "what's in a name?" d'oh!

Aw, I thought that was funny. You wanna pick on yankees go ahead as long as you can handle the heat

          1. Snort | Sep 09, 2005 03:24am | #6

            I am a yankee...but I like heat much better than cold<G> "what's in a name?" d'oh!
