Need to finish 10, 6 panel oak doors and enough trim for a 1,200 SF addition. I’m going to use a HVLP for stain and finish. Needing help in selecting what type of finish to use, lacquer or poly? What brand? Want to stay away from water base, don’t like cloudy finish.

Just a bump really..
Cloudy WB finish? You are using the wrong stuff, or applying it wrong. WB can be water clear, and stay that way.

I use Crystalac finishes with an HVLP sprayer. I get them from McFeeley's. Its a water-base finish that's crystal clear. I've never had it cloud on me.
A couple reasons I like it- water-base for easy clean-up, fast drying time ( I can give a door 3 coats per side, both sides, in a day), durable, and really has some depth to it.
Google for Homestead Finishing and talk to Jeff Jewitt.
Jeff has written a number of articles and books on finishing. He knows what you need to know.
He sells a lot of very good HVLP gear, plus finishes.
If you go to the forum at the Homestead site, you can see, written by Jeff, with photographs, how to stain and finish oak to yield many different looks, antique, reproduction, and contemporary.
And cloudy? Forget about that.
