Please indulge this rant…
Why are the levers for pop-up drains so short?
Seriously, I think if I pay $1200 for a Kohler sink and drain it should come with something more elegant for the pop-up drain than the same stamped and drilled piece of crap as a $100 sink.
Not to mention the fact that the bloody rod is about 4 inches too short so I have to turn the thng into a pretzel so it can reach the rod.
Colour me annoyed!
/rant off/
Thanks for “listening”

Canook?
Using "colour" certainly brands you by country. So don't buy anymore American brands. I'm sure that Canada has enough plumbing brands of its own.
Not sure where I live is relevant
I am unsure why my displeasure over the design of a plumbing fixture and my country of residence are remotely related.
You may have missed the point where I said I paid $1,200 dollars for the sink and drain. That means $1,200 went from my bank acount into the hands of my local distributor and eventually some gets to Kohler. I'm poorer, Kohler is richer. But I may be missing the point. Are you saying that I should keep my "trading at par" Canadian dollars in Canada and only buy Canadian products? Not sure that is the best thing for the economy. But I digress so I'll come back to my the point of my original post.
My main point, and I imagine this is an issue on both sides of the border is that the pop-up drain lever and faucet assembly are poorly designed. The pop-up is designed for a time when sinks measured 14 inchs front to back and the drain was right under the faucet outlet. Browse the catalogues of any sink manufacturer and you'll see that sink designs have changed and drains are much further from the faucet. On this sink there are 9 inches between the drain centre and the centre of the knob on the faucet for the drain. Unfortunately the rod that move the pop-up is only 5 inches long thus the reason for my gripe. For anyone wondering what I am talking about, I've attached a photo.
See the 4 1/2" gap between the pop-up rod for the drain and it's intended connection to the faucet? That's my issue. I have no issue with where it was conceived, designed, made, packaged or anything else related to it's country of origin. That's your issue.
Let's stay on topic, shall we?
Sheesh!
Call it defective and take it back.
Pop-Up Drains
I might be able to comment if I knew what one you are talking about?
I'm glad you at least gave it some thought...........
I had no idea and didn't even bother.
I've posted a picture to help clarify the problem
I'd appreciate a look and any suggestions you have to solve the problem with some elegance. I have an idea but am curious what others have done.
Many thanks,
David

The Hansgrohe ones are longer... check them out if you're into Euro stuff. (Although the website usually shows the faucets without the stem.)
I figure it's a brand/aethestic thing. They probably think it's what people want.....too phallic or something.
Thanks, appreciate the suggestion
I'll have a look
