My builder mentioned that he uses 3/4″ Com-Ply(I have no idea how it’s spelled) as a subfloor. I’ve never heard of it. How does it compare to OSB or plywood?
Thanks,

Thanks for the information, Jim. I did ask my builder about it and he just said that it is better than OSB. I thought it would be educational to solicit some opinions from the forum on the differences in these products.

Mike - I think he means a product we have been using around here for subflooring for a few years now. It has plywood type veneers on top and bottom but the core is composite material, mostly chips I think. More like OSB than particle board. Just another step in the direction of engineered products. Works fine. But if you have a question about something your builder is planning to use, shouldn't you be asking HIM about it? - jb
*MikeI had a brochure on Com-ply (which, of course, I can't find now) but as I recall it's main virtue was that it was quite a bit stiffer than regular plywood, so it was supposed to be a good choice for sub-floor. It also came in 4x8 tongue & groove sheets. I think it also came in other thicknesses up to at least 1+1/8 inches.Jay
