I re-entered the trade about three years ago after a 13 year hitch in the military. The going rate for framing subcontractors in Boise for low level homes through low mid-level homes was TWO DOLLARS A SQUARE FOOT! $2.80 if you were doing the siding!
Now I’m up in Whitefish, Montana, and the rate for low end is $4-$6 per square, and $14+ per square for the higher end stuff (complicated BCI handstacks, etc). How does that jive with the rest of the country, and HOW ON EARTH do people frame a house for two bucks a square!
