Hey Folks,
Usually post in Knots, but this is up your ally. Need to replace a exterior steel garage entry door. The original rotted out becuase improper installation by the builder. Not close to a good install job.
Question, What is the name of the doors with the 1st foot of the stiles that are a man made material. The rest of the jamb is normal, but the bottom foot of the stiles wont wick water up?
Thanks for the help.

Framesaver is the tm of the jamb bottoms used by Thermatru, Masonite (Stanley) and I would think Pease.
You can also get the same material as the backer for the metal thresholds.

The door shop at my lumberyard will make complete door jambs out of vinyl. Actually the jamb is probably fingerjointed pine but it has vinyl laminated over it, and of course they have integrated vinyl brickmold.
I'm in a podunk town in southern IL, so a good yard or doorshop around you is probably doing very similar things.

NOT that there is anything wrong with that.
