What order to do exterior trim and siding
Hello all! Thank you in advance for taking the time to rear and potentially respond to my first post on this forum.
Short background: My wife and I bought a 1954 house last March and remodeled a bathroom and two bedrooms and moved in for 6 months. We decided to complete the remodel which was extensive, total interior gut, replaced floor joists, moved stairs to basement, 95% new wiring, plumbing and HVAC. I acted as the general with the guidance of an informed family friend. We did the majority of the demolition as well as all of the electrical and interior finishing trim including window casings, baseboards and installing the windows and interior doors.
I know a think or two about how to measure twice, use power tools safely and own quite a few. I was going to farm out our exterior trim and siding but due to a current boom there is noone available for another 2 months, even then they are asking top dollar, I’m at the end of my budget so I’m down to doing it myself. In concept I understand what needs to be done but trial and error is not going to fly with the wife on the exterior, needs to return to the glorious curb appeal she is dreaming of.
We were able to leave probably 75% of the siding intact as we only replaced the front and half of the north wall. So my question really is what do I do first?
I already have the TYVEK housewrap up, I used the 36″ housewrap that is thin, not the krinkly stuff, we taped every seam as well as over every staple hole. The current siding is 10″ cedar, we’re wanting to stick with the same. For window trim we are going to do a simple 5/4×6″ trim boards, same with the doors.
We have an exterior covered porch and patio that will be getting cedar T&G ceilings.
I’m not quite sure how to trim the front pillars and shear walls , if I sould use the cedar siding, or another technique is best.
Since this is going to be a one or two man show and I have a day job this will likely be completed over the course of a few weeks. Should I just start by installing the window and door trim followed by the flashing, then trim the inner and outer corners then move to the siding? I’m just not sure where to start, any help is appreciated!
Here is the *before

And this is as close to *current as I have… we have since poured the driveway and TYVEK’d the front.
