Yep, I’m a cheapskate…just had to get the 69.00 miter saw stand that Jeff paid a 100.00 for..just had to. The new Bosch saw needed a boost, and I sold my old delta stand..
Well after putting the POS together I had my doubts..never did mount the saw..tried to think like the designer that engineered the thing and when it came time to fold it up for it’s maiden voyage in the mud..all the fiddly bits that store so nicely on board the nifty little sockets with nifty little lock knobs..got themselves so wadded up that a weld broke..
I also noted to myself as I
-embled it..( it says ya need two people, HA..I did it alone) that it had been put together in a past life..Hmmm? Says I, to myself, cuz I was alone..musta been returned by a bright person..but WHY in God’s name did they UN-
-emble it to return it? Could have saved me at least a half hour of reading instructions written by someone from a far away place who has no intention of actually following his/her own written instructions…and the wonderful picture!!!! Wow!.. It almost looks like the thang..except the instructions tell you to “build it up-side down, at a comfortable height”..so now the picture is upside down, and the phrase ” long edge towards the ‘top’ ” is no longer valid..is it the top of the stand? or the top of whats upside down?..Hmmm again.
So I have to go to Hombe Desparado any way tomorrow for my 2″ foam that can’t be bought any where else..in the whole Big State of Ky..so I will bless my new Bosch witha Ridgid stand and gladly get my 69.00 and change back from Harbour of Fright…
so, Jeff , fold up yours yet?..lol
edit..the five-0 kicked it in the azz..

What kind of foam are you hunting? some of the roofing suppliers usually have lots of foam products.

You have a five-o? I knew I liked ya for a reason.
Yeah .. folded it twice ...
first time .. half way thru the "fold" ... it made some god-awful creaking/snaping noises ... quickly unfolded and loosened all those nuts a bit ...
Folds OK now ... not something I'd want to do on a daily basis.
it'll work for the time being ...
but after I spend that "extra" $500 on a sliding miter saw ...
the "next extra" $500 will be spent on a real stand.
Hope I didn't lead you astray ......

no, not astray..I was in HF for other stuff and saw the model..and thought "hey, Jeff didn't say he didn't LIKE it"..so I jumped it..yer right , if it is on a long remodel job in one place for awile it probly is real good..but set up and tear down? Not me.
And ya gotta have a system I think to pack it up , properly.

I'm even thinking of adding some wheels at the very bottom on one set of the legs .. to roll easier ...
Probably won't though ... I'm thinking of it as disposable .. when I do buy another it'll go to the helper.

I have one of those estwing forward thingys.... like it
Me too. Took a few nails to recalibrate the targeting. Only bled for a little while and didn't lose the fingernail. <g> Nice feel to it after a while but it takes a little adjustment.
