In a related topic to my prior post, what tools would you require a framing carpenter to provide for theirself?
I imagine it varies much with location. I will certainly provide all the larger tools, ladders and staging, forklift, cords and hoses, air nailers and attendant accessories. I’ll also supply all the consumables such as sawblades, chalk, knifeblades, etc.
I’ve come up with a preliminary list that follows:
b Carpenter’s Helper (Laborer)
> Tool pouch or nail apron.
> Claw or rip hammer (at least 16 oz.)
> Tape measure (at least 25’ x1”)
> Chalk box
> Speed square or equivalent
> Nail puller (cat’s paw)
> Utility knife
b Framing Carpenter:
> A good quality 4’ spirit level
> Contractor’s grade circular saw
b Lead Carpenters:
> Lead Carpenters should provide all the above. Also it is highly recommended that Lead Carpenters be equipped with other hand tools and small power tools (cordless drill, etc.) necessary for the completion of the job.
What am I missing? or what have I included that you wouldn’t?
