what’s right way to instal flashing

My home is currently wrapped in Tyvek. I am installing Azek trim and Hardiplank siding. I am starting with a wide skirt board at the bottom and want to know how to correctly flash it for water diversion. Should I install flashing only under the tyvek at the bottom and have the skirt board sit on top of it, or also on top of the skirt board under the first course of clap bord.

We always flash them just like you would a window or T-111. Continuous pre-bent flashing so the water can't get behind. If we can't find any in the right size we bend our own.
Beat it to fit / Paint it to match
After far too many rotten sill repairs (I have one going now, huge pita), I like the idea of rolling out some ice&water membrane at the bottom of the sheathing. This backs up any joints in the trim, and seals around fastener holes.
Then place the skirt board over that, then metal kick out flashing at top of skirt board, then house wrap lapped over metal.
If the skirt board does not have a 'water table' design (I think that is the right term) to create a drip edge, you would want some sort of drip edge design at the bottom of the skirt board to prevent water from running up behind via capillary action(think window sill). This could be a slot or a strip of metal flashing.
Thanks - thats very helpful
Don't forget the Azek routes pretty nicely so you can rabbit the top edge and make a bead on the lower edge to prevent back wicking.
Great idea thanks
