Emglo
*I will second the emglo vote. We have used them for years with Honda engines, you can't wear the out.
*Hitachi 2H.P.
*I bought a used Emglo in 88 and its still makin good air today.
*Thomas 2820ST. 2HP/4Gal. Pricy and worth it. Jeff
*I have had an Emglo for 12 years and have never had a problem.
*Electric or gas? Electric, I second Emglo (oil bath).
*Emglo.Thomas is good too.Ed. Williams
*Emglo.I had a Thomas T150. Quiet and slow, but it framed a lot of houses. It's probably a great choice for remodeling and trimming.I use a continuous run emglo electric. We get all the air we need for four hoses running constantly. The continuous run is necessary because we are normally working the saws and the compressor off of one 20 amp circuit. The service guy tried to talk me out of buying the electric because he had repaired so many of them. He wanted to put me in a gas job. I already own two gas jobs and hate the noise and oil. It turns out that all the electric units that he fixed were not continuous running...the starting and stopping on the single 20 amp circuit with other saws running were wearing out the electrical contacts.blue
*I have 2 pol-Air compressors, 1 1/2 HI electric. one has run every day for 5 years and I have only changed oil and filters. I also make sure that it runs on a separate 20 amp breaker by it's self,
*Six air compressors....six brands.near the air streams...ajFinish...framing...remodeling...sprinkler blowout...underwater dock tools...and shop. Pick your poison.
*Yore a nut AJ...What's the underwater dock tool compressor all about?blue
*blue...Huge CFMs...It is a VW motor..one half has spark plugs...the other half pumps air....I use a mini breaker to drive 12" spikes in my scuba gear...Also a 1" nut driver...huge air drill...air chainsaw...and several special air over hydraulic spreaders and jacks capable of several tons of breakout force.near the frozen lake,aj
*What is that all about AJ? A prior life?blue
*Recent....Just finished a huge dock in the last year. I have built log homes...docks....tennis courts...Paint professionally...residential electric...plumbing...septic systems...heating systems...radiant floors...jacking homes...concrete...framing...siding...roofing...finish...kitchens...baths...hardwood floors...custom staircases...lots of decks...window replacement...layed block...built a few boats...taught Kayaking...Cross country skiing...Hang gliding...Ultralight flying...built ten aircraft...test flown over a hundred different planes...scuba dive...barefoot ski...snowboard...telemark...vball...and lots more blue buddy...What yaa been doing all your life...playing with the backhoe in the yard too much?near the stream getting ready for another great day of skiing in paradise,ajOh and favorite compressor....Rollair. Very Quiet.
*I'm tired just reading AJ.blue
*Blue...I have been watching two rather simple frames being whacked together in the last few weeks...Boy do they need us....Ketchup flows faster out of a bottle.near the stream,aj
*Aj, sometimes I wonder how anyone can take sooooo long. Maybe someday, I'll stand there and watch...blue
*Just bought a new Cambell Hausfeld from HD ($200.00--great price). Three weeks later it was stolen off the job. Right next to it was an old beat-up dirty bent and scared Cambell Hausfeld compressor that they didn't take. Still works great, but I guess it didn't look like something they could sell. The best compressors are the ones they won't steal. I believe there may be a little bit of wisdom there.However.........On the other hand, last Monday the bastards broke into a job we're on and stole an old Powermatic table saw. Can you believe it? 800 pound saw? It had to take four men to move it out of the house and load it on a truck. It belonged to the builder. It had to be at least 40 years old. One of those big green ones. Nothing is really safe.Ed. Williams
*The guy I work for now buys all the tools, and lets the installers pick what they want. I just recently (three days ago) picked up a new Emglo. It's the new 2hp low amp draw type and works great. QUIET! and does'nt draw as much power as the rest I've tried. I had a Senco (twin hot dog type tanks with the MK pump) and I think they are basically the same.
*Robb, don't plug that low amp emglo in to an extension cord, or too far away from the panel. I have three in the barn with burnt out moters because of voltage drop. I know better, but my rookies just don't believe me when I tell them things until something goes wrong. I had one that lasted about two years with no problems because I was careful. They burned that one up and two more in three months.blue
*Blue, Thanks, I did one like that a few years ago and learned the hard way. This one stays on the truck right next to the generator, takes a little more hose but I can normally get within 50ft of the work area and not have a hard time.
*Why do ya wanna drive 12" spikes in your scuba gear???....it'll leak with all them holes! Jeff
*That's why ya need the Thomas. Extension cord friendly. 'Course I still use a big fat one just to be safe! Jeff
*Someone stole an old sears compressor 12yrs ago.I was on the road,so I rented a well used emglo. I offered the man 200$ for it instead of paying the rent.It sits on the job today hooked up. nuff said.
