*I stand corrected, low and behold theres a post with the same exact title! I ran a search for similar titles and got squat. So goes my success with computers!
*Allen, The old makitas were, in my opinion, very good tools. Very smooth, almost seemed like planing with a hand plane at times (sacrilegious talk) but anyway a tool you almost looked for an excuse to use.I picked up a new one but it didnt' feel as solid, maybe a little cheaper made?I'm looking for older ones. The Bosch also felt cheap and plasticky to me. Let us know what you got and if you like it.MD
*Hey Allen, I had a Bosch and broke the depth adjuster after using it a couple months. Exchanged it for a PC.The PC works well, but I somehow feel that it's not as smooth as the Bosch. Maybe has something to do with the weight distribution.I too have heard good things about the Makita power planers, but have never personally used one. If it's anything like their mitre saws, I'm sure it's a class act.
*I have a DeWalt and have had no problems. I don't remember the number, but about $160 at a big box retailer.Dennis
*I have two DW, one Porter C and an old makita 6"- the DW's are my "framing planers" they take abuse well but are definetly 'throwaway' tools- cost way too much to repair. the PC works fine but definitly feels cheap and lightweight. That old makita is 15 yrs old -much used and abused and still works great- gotta say that my next non emergency purchase will be m
*thanks guys, seems like a mak. is the way to go. I'll give it a try. Near the drainage ditch.
